Crazy villains!

Fri Feb 29, 2008, 9:00 PM
Okay, the last few journals have been bummers. Plus, it's been a while since I really put forward a creative challenge for everyone. In light of that fact, here goes!--

What, to you, makes a really diabolical villain? I think we all spend a lot of time talking about zombie defense and pirate-ninja rivalry, but what about the old pasttime of making crazy villains? Perhaps I could organize this question into a small survey--

1) What would your ideal villain look like?

2) What's his/her/its/high daemon's name?

3) What's their modus operandi? (AKA, their personal style, their unique way of doing things?)

4) What desperate fate will fall upon those who stand in their way?

5) What is the thing this villain hates the most, their greatest weakness?

6) What choice of minions does this villain prefer?

7) Who is/are their henchman/woman/thing/subordinate anthropomorphic demon/s?

8) What sort of foul plot do they have? Ultimate power? Annihilation? Financial domination? Other?

9) If your villain could announce themselves to the world in one act or gesture, what would they do?

and finally...

10) Who is their most hated nemesis?

  • Mood: Sadness
  • Listening to: That Finnish jibberish polka (Loituma)
  • Reading: Can't read... spinning leek...
  • Watching: Leek girl... seriously, wtf?
  • Playing: mind games!!
  • Eating: Well, digesting, really.
  • Drinking: Diet Coke

My ideal villian is one who already has been thought up in my fantasy series known as the Ferocia Fables. I have at least two really evil ones, but heres the main. Tanesha

1.Dark purple fur, tattoos and markings that match her tribe of origin on her body and robes. Sapphire blue eyes that practically glow when she's plotting.

2.Tanesha(anthros have no surname unless raised by humans)

3.She targets the rich and powerful. Anyone in particular with slaves. Usually has them turn on each on their master so as to avoid suspicious to plot for the bigger picture.

4.Depends on her prey. If nessecary, she will break into their minds, making them relive their darkest despairing memories until they commit suicide.

5.Among her ranks, she hates anyone bring up her old mentor, Dante. Outside, she hate's humans.

6.Either strong, or cunning. She does the dumb ones a favor and eliminates them.

7.Her ranks vary. She has assasins, Tribe leaders, and even some members of the Ferocia Council and students on her side. Also the Cado, those who practice mana for evil purposes.

8.She want's to "Restore,Maintain, and Remind" the humans that anthros are the dominate ones and they should be feared.

9.I guess having the surviving two nations turn on each other. Divided nations are weak nations.

10.She has several. Jonathan Crescent because she finds it inconceivable to obtain mana when humans never had any. Camilla, who she considers her biggest traitor. And Misaki, for always being one step ahead of her. Also Elizabeth Petalace, who holds more anthro slaves than any slave holder.
Hmmmm.... Jodi, you put me in an odd and difficult position with this survey of yours! Especially as my TRUE main villain has yet to show his/her muzzle yet! However, I can give SOME answers about my primary antagonist therein; just enough to whet the appetite. I mean, let's face it... who doesn't love a good villain?! Orochimaru, Magneto, Dr. Doom, Apocalypse, Capt. Hook, that dragon witch from the Disney movies... these are what drives a story forward. Otherwise, it would be all happiness, bunnies and fairy dust. Anyway, this is about my own anatognist extroardinaire~!

1) Someone that would look relatively normal, despite their dastardly deeds; why do all bad guys need a fetish or signiture look?

2) Nuh-uh. Ain't tellin' ya now!

3) "The world is but an empty stage, and we are simply players." My foe takes this to the extreme, manipulating the world before him like pieces on a chessboard.

4) Why limit oneself to a single tedium of action? Crushing one's enemies should be like cooking or crafting; singular pieces d'art that shatter their soul and tear their psyches asunder, reminding all that resistance is futile.

5) My antagonist has no Kyptonite, as it were, but there is the tiniest flaw, if one had the patience to look.

6) The few, the deadly... the psychotic. As long as one fur is manipulated enough to do his will, anyone with skill and lack of social graces is welcome... case in point, Zahar.

7) Readers will have to find out in the next books! Gommen!

8) Ohhh... just the domination, control, and overwhelming power that was lost so long ago, necessary to be regained before utter chaos reigned supreme.

9) You are but pawns.

10) Anyone who has the unmitigated gall and foolish pride to stand against him, but especially that precocious redwolf, Crimson and those idiots that support him!

Sorry, Jodi, but if I says more, then all the plot twists will be dead and gone in my story. Slag, I've probably said too much already...! Well, have fun figuring it all out!
Ooh, a femme fatale with a sense of dominance... sounds ruthless and fun! It seems you got the gist of what I was asking for.

Now here's a question- do cunning minions have more of a tendency to be disloyal or too ambitious?

A chess player type! How interesting... some of my favorite literary villains of all time are those that passively move the forces at play against each other, if only for the sake of their mutual destruction.

Now here's a question for your villain- If people don't play by the rules, or if the element of chance shows itself, how does your villain deal with this deviation from his plans?

Here's a villian/anti-hero I've been thinking about putting together, how exactly he comes about will depend on the setting I finally put him in.

1) I'm quite partial to a power-armor technovillian who looks quite imposing in his suit but out of it... he has a normal identity, one that the heroes would never quite suspect.

2) The Defabricator (and his Crew)

3) His MO? He prefers to plan his moves carefully if time permits, hammering out the details while making sure his robotic legion is up for the task. Then when they finally go out to play, he stays close, directing the action with the skill of a modern field general. And of course, his suit allows him to carry out his nefarious plots of sabatoge.

4) Depending on the setting he might have something wacky planned. In most cases he'll just shoot them to remove them from his plans as quickly as possible.

5) Actually being beaten at his own game.

6) Robots, a small unit of modifiable androids he customizes for the task at hand.

7) No henchmen, he barely trusts his witless robots at times

8) Get rich, laugh at the rivals who undersold him (in most cases he would be one of those frustrated architects,) and maybe score a bevy of beautiful women.

9) A highly publicized construction project collapses or is otherwise rendered undone. Shortly afterwards, a masked figure appears on national television and laughs at how their puny designs can't compete against his might.

and finally...

10) Any random do-gooder, villians more powerful then him, particularly clueless villians that somehow manage to amass more clout then him.

Well, I wouldn't say "passively", as he does take a role in the situations that destroy his opponent's lives... but he enjoys letting others do his deeds for him, manipulating masterfully all those around him to his own vicious, sadistic ends. His is a type that does not just destroy you... he destroys your good name, your family, your friends, and everyone that had the misfortune of EVER meeting you for any lengthy amount of time. Then he comes in for the kill, when you are all alone and weak from the agony that resulted. After messing with your psyche so much that killing you would be a godsend compared to the torture of your own soul. THAT... is how painful his rage is.

Now, what my antagonist would do if the random piece of chance foiled his plans...? Simple. Enact the backup plan. Layers within layers of stratagema are within his plans, like threads in a tapestry. If one method fails, another will suffice until order is restored. And order within his plans is usually restored swiftly, brutally and viciously.
Ahh, androids... you really can't deny their appeal as minions! They've got the drive, gusto, and complete lack of conscience of zombies, but not the unfortunate limited shelf-life and are much more governable. Simultaneously, they have the benefits of weaponry. Sadly, neither can swim... but there are ways around that.

He sort of reminds me of the brilliant but antisocial type whose genius greatly outshines his interpersonal skill and whose insecurities in this regard generate enormous, driven contempt for undeserved acclaim.

Most are inferior in mana compared to her, except for two;her own apprentices. But they dare not, for she adopted them when their father was killed during the human/anthro war. They consider her as much a mother than the one who gave birth to them.
It depends honestly depends on how the polish settles. I literally made him up on the spot. Then again, a single detail can change whether Poison Ivy is portrayed as a heartless sociopath or a tragic villian so it's always relative.
