I'm getting a hit of nostalgia... or something that hazily resembles it. As a 1983 baby it is my birth decade, but I spent the entire decade living overseas in places where it would be years until American TV programming hit the airwaves. I remember it as my childhood overseas, not as the decade that was so astonishingly defined by pop culture and media. I'm only now starting to dig into the music, film, and TV that immortalized the 80s for real and I've come to a conclusion... I'm a bit out of my league!
But I'm still trying. I know I asked this on FA, but if anyone here has memories of the 80s, what events, shows, and songs stand out to you? What does your mental snapshot of the 80s look like?
And while you're replying, listen to and watch some of these to jog your memory...

My vote for coolest song of the 80's is Rock me Amadeus by Falco but I like all the british invasion one-hit wonders like flock of seagulls, duran duran and many others.

Always looking for more talented anthro artists!
My parents were big fans of Billy Joel, Genesis, The Eagles, etc. The soft-rock crowd. As a result I missed out on much of the more revolutionary 80's music. It wasn't even until the end of high school that I even started listening to the radio on a regular basis. Now I'm an mp3 whore.... but most of it is decidedly NOT 80's.
HOWEVER.
I LIVED on shows like Transformers, GI Joe, M.A.S.K., Thunder Cats, Voltron. Some of the plot lines seem really corny if you go back and watch them now, but I loved those as a kid.
Even I begin to feel old now that my younger brother is a sophomore in college and a year away from being able to drink with me!
